Joelle Fa

Director & Clinical Psychologist

BPsych (Hons), MPsych (Clin),

ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician

Getting to hear and know my clients’ stories is an incredible privilege. I see therapy as a partnership, where we work as a team to get you to where you want to be. Offering my clients hope, understanding and restoration even in the midst of the most difficult seasons is one of my greatest joys.

A little bit about me:

I know it can feel daunting to see a psychologist, so it’s really important to me that my clients feel safe and accepted whatever their reason for coming to therapy may be. I really care about having a good, genuine relationship with all of my clients. The treatments I use are informed by evidence-based research, balanced with a warm, laid-back and non-judgemental approach to help the people I see get the most out of therapy. I take a holistic approach to therapy, taking into consideration the physical, psychological, spiritual and relational health of each person and their environment. With this in mind, I work hard to tailor treatment to each individual’s goals and needs.

I have worked in a range of settings including hospital inpatient and community settings, universities and in various private practice settings. I also enjoy learning and supporting others in their learning journey. I have lectured at universities and train and supervise NSW Health clinicians across the state in evidence-based treatment of eating disorders. When I am not seeing clients in private practice, I work at the InsideOut Institute for Eating Disorders as a Senior Project Manager, trainer and supervisor with the NSW Statewide Eating Disorders team.

Teaching and Training

One of the things I love about the work that I do is that I never stop learning. I enjoy the process of developing and fine-tuning skills, both as a learner and a trainer and I am passionate about helping others in their learning journey.

I have lectured at the University of New England on evidence-based treatment approaches for eating disorders in adolescents. I also train and supervise NSW Health clinicians across the state in evidence-based eating disorders treatment for adolescents and adults.
